Hugh's first mode of communication was the finger point accompanied with a snake hiss "ssssss" in the direction towards the object of interest.
he then progressed...and began to use the hiss "ssssss" as a way to say "yes, I want something."
And then one day...he started speaking "jungle" and babbled away in concentrated conversation.
He had so much to say, but most of it untranslatable.
Lately...he is growing up in front of my very two eyes. Out of nowhere he completed his first sentence. "ah wan wice ah kaka" translation: "i want rice and furikake"
(pretty advanced ...speaking japanese already! ha.)

He is so fun and is such a big boy now! He pats my growing belly and says, " baby." Sometimes he aims a little too high and pats another round body part and i have to redirect him toward my belly! It is crazy how sometimes you can just sense the little wheels are turning in his head and he is learning and absorbing so much and is on the verge of something new....

We have been getting tons of baby sitters lately because we have a weekly Bradley Method birthing class and we are attending a marriage class and doctors appointments, institute, etc. He does really well after the first initial death grip with his legs when i try to set him down. Well today right when sacrament got out he bolted from the chapel to the nursery room and went right in without a second glance behind him. aMaZiNg. This is a huge breakthrough. He used to whimper and whine even when we mentioned "nursery" at home. He is growing up!

Nothing is sweeter that a hug and a kiss from this little boy. or a "peese"(please). or a "mimi" (mommy). or an early morning snuggle (with blankie & monkey of course). or when he points to a picture of Jesus and says "jejes." or when he walks around the house saying, "rah rah, toos!" (rah rah....go (byu) cougars)

We went to an outdoor concert at the gardens....hugh was jamming out/ running crazy. check out how sweaty he is!

We also went to a Labor Day Parade. Devin was a good sport and let me drag him there...but turned his frown upside down and smiled when we got there. :) Hugh doesn't looked too thrilled in these pictures, but he loved the "choos choos, the band, the fire engine, etc."

Hey Becca we are so excited about your news. We are so glad you are headed our way in a bit. We were at the baby gap the other night and there is a casting call for adorable babies like yours and Whit and I both agreed that little Hughie definitely needs to be their new poster baby. All you have to do is send in a pic. on their website. He is such a handsome, sweet little guy. Hope you are well.
