sometimes you just have to smile.

i loaded up the 3 kiddos to run to home depot. Amidst the morning chaos the H train found himself in time out quite a few times....lets just say he had some energy to burn off. I had been meaning to go to home depot for a week or 2 or 3 so i decided to bite the bullet and just go.

Can i just say. Thank you home depot for having a cart big enough to fit my baby carseat and my other two munchkins with little steering wheels to boot. :) And thank you to the sweet home depot man who saw me and asked if i needed help and led me through the entire store to find all the things i needed. And since there was no room for any items to fit in my cart {just kids} thank you for carrying the 2 pieces of wood to check out and then to my car.  WOW.  And my kids trick or treated at the checkout too.

Since we needed to burn off the aforementioned energy, I decided to optimize my McDonald's gift cards {thank you grandma michi!!} and pick up some nuggets and head to the park. Luckily the Mcdonald's drive through lady was wearing a banana costume. i needed that.
We headed to the park.
Closed. {decorating for tonight's trunk or treat in the park} boo.
flipped a U and headed to our neighborhood park. When we got there...a medium sized dog was running around the playground barking. I unloaded all the kids, drinks & nuggets. My initial concern was that he was going to eat my food! He kept barking and had no thought of leaving by our intrusion. In fact he was now approaching us and not with a happy face. Tomi, the dog lover, was smiling and pointing saying, "Doggie." But after a few barks...ran to the car crying. Hugh was already back inside the car refusing to come out. I groaned out loud. I wanted to stay at the park. i did a "go away dog" dance along with some yelling. nothing.
luckily in the land of the desert there are always little rocks around. I managed to send a few rocks in the dog's direction and he ran home and jumped the fence.

ahh. a peaceful park once again. We plopped on a park bench under a tree and relaxed in the cool shade and ate our nuggets. Victory. All were happy to be enjoying the outdoors on this beautiful day.

Then Hugh begins the panic-two-legged jumping. "gotta go poo poo."
It just wasn't our day for the park.
loaded up all the kids and drinks and drove home.
oh well. funny enough...the mornings events brought a smile to my face!
and it helped to have a diet coke in tow.
