My big boy turned 3! We started off the festivities with family & friends for cake & ice cream the night before his birthday. The cake was inspired by Misa...(couldn't do the fondant...maybe next year) and made possible by one of grandma kathy's presents to hugh - the toy story figurines! They really made the cake. Hugh decided to boycott his nap on his cake & ice cream day and then decided to zonk out at 5pm. I tried to wake him up at 6pm....telling him Toy Story Buzz & Woody were on his cake was about the only thing i could do to wake him uP!He LOVED the cake and I was pleased with my improvement from last year (scary choo choo cake) He was into 'party hats' this year from some of the books we've been reading. He even went to bed that night with a yellow party hat on.
we won't mention the baking of the cake disaster.... I added a little too much cake to this pan and it was dripping all over BEFORE i decided to put the pan there. Let's just say there was some smoke & a quick scream to Devin....and baking till midnight. All for the love of a little boy.
The day of his birthday we headed off to the Children's Museum in Phoenix. We were joined by cousins & friends! So much fun. Hugh loves the museum and is always begging to go. The night ended with a birthday dinner of Japanese Curry - one of hugh's favorite dishes. He has been playing Woody & Buzz, running around in his buzz costume, playing hungry hippos, riding his "Queen bike" around the house, and wearing toy story underwear & new clothes. Every time the buzz theme song comes on after a boisterous "To infinity & beyond!" Hugh ejects Buzz's wings and bolts around the house allowing buzz to take flight. EVERY TIME.
Happy Birthday Hugh!
