Happy New Year!

TOP MATSUMORI MOMENTS OF 2007
10. Boys trip to St. George
Devin received a little slice of heaven for his birthday this year. He took a trip to St. George with his best buddies where he golfed, played Halo, ate sushi, chilled, and of course…stayed up late reliving all their inside jokes!

9.Rock band with Matsumori Family
With Christian’s Microsoft hookups the Matsumori Family turned into “Rockband” and "Guitar Hero" all stars over Christmas break. With Dylan and Misa jammin on the drums, Devin and Derek on the vocals, Christian on the guitar…it gave them one more reason to be up until 2am everynight!
8. Puerto Vallarta Trip with VoorChurch Family
We welcomed in 2007 with a wonderful trip in Puerto Vallarta. Deep Sea fishing, hanging out at the beach all day, family dinners with the whole family and all the grandkids every night,
late night UNO “draw until you go, draw until you go,” zip line, flies up in the ocean, & football on private Sayulita beach. 7. Move to Omaha
Devin, Michi, Misa & Thomas made the 16 hour trek out to Omaha. Devin, behind the wheel of a 24 foot Penske truck and Michi, Misa, & Thomas following close behind in the Jetta. Thank you Michi & Misa! Becca took the princess route via Frontier Airlines! Misa was put to work helping to organize and decorate our new townhouse – our nicest place yet!

6. First outing as a family
After being a mommy for a short 6 weeks I finally braved the outdoors! Our first outing as a little family was really fun and quite an accomplishment! We went to Old Navy to do some shopping and then made a pit stop at the family restroom (mall of the bluffs had the best family bathroom ever! – they have a room to nurse in and you can lock the door!), we ended the night with a scrumptious dinner at Panera Bread. Little Hughie was an angel and slept in the stroller the whole time.

5. Devin worked on his first patient
Devin worked on his first real patient – Becca! He was very professional and looked like a real dentist! For one of his dental assignments he completed a cleaning, probe depths, prophy & floss on Becca and did a fantastic job. Devin thrived although under great pressure… not from his dental professors, but from Becca – a nervous mother who had to leave her little baby (3 weeks old) for the first time!

4. Conquered Breastfeeding (almost)
This may seem like a weird highlight for the year…but it is quite the accomplishment for me! Little Hughie and I have finally got our groove down. I survived the daunting task of keeping this little person alive, the pain, the jaundice, the timing game, the latch, the sleepless nights …and thanks to the encouragement of friends and mothers – We did it!!

3. Surviving 2nd year 1st semester dental school finals (14 tests in 6 days!)
Devin survived a rigorous finals week this past semester. He was ravaged to say the least! His time consisted of studying, studying, & studying….he also allotted some time to take some tests. Becca & Hughie were so happy when finals week was over.

2. Blessing Hughie at home on our 4th Wedding Anniversary
A special highlight of the holiday season for our family was blessing our little boy, Hughie. We decided to hold the blessing at Becca’s parents’ house. Kathy & Hugh opened their home to quite the crowd! Having it at a home fostered a unique & beautiful spiritual experience for our family. How wonderful to have our friends and family gather with us to honor the birth and blessing of this sweet boy.
1. Hugh’s birth
The #1 highlight for 2007 was the birth of our first boy, Hugh Devin Matsumori. He is the light of our lives! We love having a little family of our own. Hughie brings so much joy to every day. Parenthood brings with it challenges…but they are good challenges that cause us to grow and stretch and LOVE!

It was so fun seeing you guys over the break! Love the top 10 list...I didn't know that Matsumori's were so musically talented.

Hey Becca! I wish I could have seen you more over the break. We have to spend more time together in the spring. Hughie does have a great big smile. Cohen is a little more depressed I guess. J/K he is just really mellow! I also agree with your paycheck theory. Just wait until terrible twos!!!
